Where information goes
Roam Live Companion connects directly to Twitch and to the OBS server you choose. It does not send your chat history, usage analytics or crash reports to a Roam server. The app does not include its own advertising SDK. Services you choose to use receive information needed to provide their features and apply their own privacy policies.
Twitch sign-in and chat
You authorize the app on Twitch's website. Companion receives permission to read and send chat for your Twitch account. It receives your Twitch user ID, login name and display name, along with access and refresh tokens that keep you signed in. Companion does not receive your Twitch password.
The app sends authentication requests and chat subscriptions directly to Twitch. When you send a message, Twitch receives its text and your account identifier and publishes the message in your channel under Twitch's rules. Twitch also supplies messages and moderation events from your channel, including chatters' names, user IDs and message content. Twitch receives normal connection information, such as your IP address.

Saved chat and settings
Companion saves up to the latest 200 chat messages in its private storage so that recent conversation is available when you return. Saved messages include message and user IDs, usernames, text and display details. Older messages are replaced as new messages arrive. This history is not a permanent archive and is not sent to a Roam server.
Your speech choices, quick buttons, preview options and other settings are also stored on the phone. Twitch authorization details and any saved OBS address and password are encrypted using a key held by Android Keystore. Chat history and ordinary settings use Android's private app storage without that additional encryption. Companion disables Android cloud backup and excludes its data from Android device transfer.
Text-to-speech
When you enable speech, Companion passes chat text and, if selected, usernames to your phone's Android text-to-speech engine. It selects installed voices that the engine identifies as not requiring a network connection. Companion does not upload this text to a Roam speech service or paid voice API. The speech engine is a separate component with its own settings and privacy practices.
The speech queue is held in memory. Its retention follows your speech settings and it does not become an audio recording. The saved chat history described above is separate from the speech queue.
Stream previews
Opening the Twitch preview loads Twitch's embedded video player inside the app. Twitch and its delivery services receive the requested channel and normal web connection information, including your IP address and browser details. The player can use web storage and cookies subject to Android WebView settings. Its content and any advertising are provided by Twitch. The preview does not receive Companion's saved Twitch access or refresh tokens.
An OBS preview requests images directly from your configured OBS server. Companion displays these images in memory and does not save a preview recording or upload the images to a Roam server.
OBS controls
If you enable OBS controls, Companion connects to the server address you enter, authenticates when required, and exchanges scene names, broadcast status, preview images and the control commands you choose. Your OBS server receives normal connection information.
A wss:// connection encrypts this traffic. A ws:// connection does not encrypt it itself and is allowed only to private network addresses. A separate private network service, if you use one, has its own privacy practices. Turning off OBS control or disconnecting keeps the saved connection details until you choose Forget OBS connection or remove the app's data.
Background use and permissions
Internet access is used for Twitch and your optional OBS connection. Network status helps the app recover after a connection changes. Notifications and a foreground service keep your user-started chat session visible while the phone is locked or another app is open. When speech is enabled, the service also supports audio playback. The notification includes Stop chat and, while speech is enabled, Turn TTS off.
Companion can ask you to allow unrestricted battery use to help an active chat session continue. This version does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts or location.
Retention and removal
Saved chat and settings remain on your phone until replaced or removed. Sign out of Twitch in Companion to clear the app's saved Twitch authorization and chat history. The app also attempts to revoke its Twitch access token, but that request can fail when Twitch is unreachable. You can remove the app's authorization in your Twitch account's Connections settings. Signing out does not delete your Twitch account or messages held by Twitch.
Choose Forget OBS connection to remove its saved address and password from Companion. This does not delete anything from your OBS computer. Clearing Companion's storage in Android settings or uninstalling it removes its private settings, saved chat, credentials and embedded-player storage. These actions do not remove data retained by Twitch, your OBS server or other services.
Companion does not create a separate Roam account or keep a server-side copy of your chat. To manage or delete your Twitch account and Twitch-held information, use Twitch's account and privacy controls.

For privacy questions, email feedback@roamlive.app. If you contact support, your email address and the information you choose to send are used to respond to your request. Do not send passwords, access tokens or other credentials. You can use the same address to ask about removing support correspondence.
